I really enjoy the summer camp format of getting away and playing board games and RPGs with folks for a few days. Last year it felt really short and this year we were able to go a day early which really helped. I feel like I got a lot in during the long weekend, learning about a bunch of cool games. I intended to run a game this year but didn’t get it together. I couldn’t decide what I wanted to run. I saw one of the GMs this year did one RPG and one board game. Last year I played in his RPG and this year I played in the board game (Root). It helped me learn the rules a little better. Also this year they had someone who for one session did character creation / session 0 and then in the second session did the first session of play. Next time I might do something like that: play a first game to create our story and then a second game to play in it or a game and board game combo. I really like the idea of running a tarot-based game kind of game like Spindlewheel.
