I am a few years into my fountain pen journey. My first pen, the lamie safari, has held up great. I also got a TWSBI eco and the glass body cracked when I wasn’t careful with it. The third pen I got was from Ferriswheel Press, It doesn’t hold much ink anymore and leaks a lot but still works. It hasn’t broken yet. I’m left-handed so originally for my lamie safari I got the LH nib for left-handed writing (a medium size nib). I felt like the thing to do with fountain pens is calligraphy so I was trying to improve my cursive and figure out my own style. Recently I got a new book from Ferriswheel Press for Lord of the Rings teaching how to write the elvish script and I realized I didn’t have a calligraphic nib for that so I got one, a 1.1 mm nib. It makes a thinner line than the LH nib. I’m a little disappointed by that because I want to actually see the line variation in thickness of the calligraphic nib and that is less dramatic with smaller lines. I do really like it for general writing because the smaller lines dry faster.
